About Me

I’m Jagannath Putrevu.

I’m an engineer/builder, a generalist in a specialized world. I operate at the intersection of Machine Learning, Operations Research and Product development.

I currently work for Instacart’s Marketplace Optimization team as a Senior Staff Engineer where I help make groceries magically appear at your doorstep. The problem areas that I spend most of my time on are Last-mile Logistics, Supply-Demand Balancing, Simulations and Predictive Modeling. I also had a brief spell with Search & Recommendations.

Prior to Instacart, I built relevance models for Walmart’s Sponsored Products (ads) and was the first ML Engineer on that team.

I have a Master’s Degree in Operations Research from Georgia Tech and a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology Madras. I also co-authored a few research papers and patents.
